Subjects - Adding ParQ Data

< back to Working With Subjects

Introduction

PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness) is a method of determining whether a Subject is ready to embark upon a regime of exercise to increase their fitness and improve their health.  Depending upon their current state of fitness, will determine whether they can undertake exercise without causing a problem such as a heart attack.

A few simple questions will highlight any potential problems. These problems will need to be referred to a Medical Practioner and authorisation granted by signed form before any exercise can continue.

A Related form/letter to the PARQ form are:

  • The GP Authorisation Letter.

This letter is a persoanlised letter which details the responses to the PARQ form. It has to be taken to the Medical Practioner for review and the Practioner can make the decision whether the Subject can exercise or not. The Form must be signed by both Medical Practioner and Subject.

The signed authorisation is held by the club / organisation that will be providign the exercise regimen.

Ideally, the PARQ must be renewed each year.

To add or review Par Q data; go to the Subject Details (you must have already loaded the Subject you wish to work with, for details on how to do this refer to Selecting A Subject)

Select the Par Q tab. Work through the questions which cover Medical History and Exercise History for the Subject;  After answering these questions and clicking Save Par Q a message will appear on the screen advising the Subject what to do, depending on the answers provided.

You can Print the Par Q questions for the Subject to fill in on paper.  These can then be returned and entered into Fitech at a later date.
