Subjects - Adding A Subject

Introduction

< back to Working With Subjects | Getting Started TOC

The subject details fields are designed to collect personal information on each subject prior to any assessments being conducted.  The details include name, contact details, DOB, gender and up to ten configurable codes that can be personalised to your application.  Some of these details are compulsory as they are required to calculate some of the assessment results and compare them to recommended norms for the subject's age and gender.

There is a huge amount of data relating to a subject therefore this is split into three separate areas to make data input more convenient for the operator and more context appropriate. The data is split into:

  • Personal or General Information
  • Lifestyle Information
  • Configurable Codes

The order of insertion of subject data is designed around the way most organisations work.

Adding The Subject

To add a new subject, select Subject Detail on the top menu and then click on the menu item Add New Subject; This will take you to the Insert new subject details page.

Complete all of the information you have on the person you wish to add into the database. Simply add in all the information you feel you require. Use the TAB key to move from field to field.

Note:- This form is generic and can be used to add 'users' of all levels. If you want to add an Operator, set the security level drop down list to Operator.

If you do not have all of the information you can skip fields and add them later.

First Name, Last Name, Gender and DOB are essential fields and must be added for each new Subject added to the database.

When completed click the ADD SUBJECT button on bottom left side of screen.

If you want the subject to be able to log in to Fitech to review their test results or complete health questionnaires you will need to assign the subject a login and a password; an email will be sent to the subject with their login and password details. They can change the password when they first log in. You can also add a new Subject from the Select New Subject screen by clicking the link on that page.

The Add Subject Form is shown below:

Data Entry

The data entry forms within Fitech have validation implemented. Where data must be insterted in a certain format, there is invariably a hint or bubble help close to the field. Unless the data is not input in the specified form, a validation message will be displayed and the operator will be invited to re-enter the data. For example, all dates must be entered into the system in the format of dd-mm-yyyy. In many cases there will be a date picker control available for the operator and usually an appropriate date will be prefilled into the field to make data entry even easier.

The operator can usually use normal 'windows' short cuts. For example if you want to jump to an option within a pick list which starts with the letter 'P', there is no requirement to use the scrollbar to locate the value; By simply pressing the letter P will cause the system to jump to the first value with that letter.
