What parameters you need to know?
- Gender
- Age
- Systolic Blood Pressure
- Diastolic Blood Pressure
- Smoking status
- Total serum cholesterol
- HDL cholesterol
These parmeters are used to calculate absolute CVD Risk and express it as a percentage. It also displayed graphically.
Diabetes or a fasting blood glucose of 7mmol/l or more are exclusions.
Additional factors:
There is also an opportunity to report on
- Fasting Glucose levels
- Adverse Family History
- Whether the subject is of South Asian origin
- Any incidences of left ventricular hypertrophy.
All of which can have a dramatic effect on the absolute CVD Risk (see CHD - JBS Profile) and is the major difference between this JBS CHD calculator and those of the Framingham or Dundee Studies.
The interface is considerably 'busier' than Dundee and Framingham. Because of this the Current and Potential Risks are seperated out onto different tabs. The operator just needs to switch bewteen tabs to see the different scenarios.
