What you need to know?

To complete a Dundee CHD Risk assessment for a loaded subject, you need to know the following parameters:

  • Systolic Blood Pressure
  • Total Cholesterol Reading
  • Smoking History (Date started; type; quantity and  actual date of quitting)

These are required for the software to assess Current Risk and express as a percentage.

You then have the opportunity to discuss the results with the subject and discuss potential improvements that the subject can effect.

For instance, if Blood Pressure is currently high then you can graphically show the potential improvement by reducing systolic BP or the potential improvement in quitting smoking. Any improvement should reduce the Risk. Some improvements can be very dramatic and reduce the Risk significantly.

The interface is shown below:

  • The areas in highlighted in blue and pink are the individual input forms for current risk and potential risk. The number of fields varies depending upon what you select for smoking information.
  • A report can be generated to Adobe PDF format, direct from the interface. Dundee Results are also reported in the the Individual Summary Report.
  • The ranking is explained here. In this case, the potential risk of the loaded subject suggests that they are number 1 in the queue for a heart attack - not a great place to be!
