Concepts - Requirements to Run Fitech

< Back to Concepts TOC

The Fitech SAAS Model

  1. Fitech has been designed to run as a Web-Application or as SAAS (software as a service). The entire solution is an online solution, from the application to the support systems behind it. This has many benefits to the end-user. It means that the customer doesn't have to provide any infrastructure, hardware, software or any technical expertise to run the system.

  2. SAAS also means that the upgrade and bug-fixing process is easily managed and rolled out to the customer.

  3. Additionally, Fitech secures customer data and provides a complete end to end, turnkey solution. Your IT staff will particularly like the Fitech SAAS as it frees them to do the other important work within your organisation. The whole system is extremely cost effective and will very quickly yield a return on your investment.

  4. One of the most attractive aspects of running Fitech as a SAAS is that your health consultants can now have access to their data anywhere they have an Internet connection. They also now have fully consolidated data across the whole organisation.

Alternative Solutions

  1. Fitech understands that some customers will want to host the application themselves or have a completely different portal. Fitech can organise any model that you require. Contact Fitech sales for more information. (sales@fitech.co.uk)

What you need

  1. Simple, all you need is an Internet connection, preferably an ADSL quality connection.

  2. An Internet Browser. Fitech supports IE version 7 and version 7 builds, Firefox version 3 and version 3 builds.

  3. Fitech is being tested on IE 8 beta - It has also had limited testing using Mozilla Firefox on the Apple MAC and performs fine.

  4. It is not officially supported on Opera, Safari or Netscape. This does not however mean you are unable to use Fitech on these browsers.

  5. In order to run the Fitech Reports, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine.

  6. There are also some Adobe Flash/Shockwave based surveys. These require Flash to be installed on your machine. Generally browsers will perform this installation automatically with guidance. However, if you experience difficulty, you should visit http://www.adobe.com/ and download and install the reader and player manually.

  7.  If your organisation plans to host Fitech itself, it will need:

  • A Microsoft Environment,
    • SQL Server 2005 (Express is supported)
    • IIS 6 or later
    • ASP and ASP.NET
    • 3 Server side components provided by Fitech.

  • Backup of data is the responsibility of the Customer in 'Self-Hosted' solutions
